2017 HCSD Walk of Gratitude - Station, Memorial, Bradley, ILC

In today's society we are all so busy. We constantly are pushing ourselves and each other to do more and to be more. In our quest to #BeELITE, we often forget to stop and reflect and simply say "thank you". To pause and take the time to tell those that make our lives better that we appreciate them for all the little things and big things they do to enhance our journey.

Within the Hilliard City Schools, we focus on instilling a passion for growth in ourselves, our staff and our students. We push ourselves to #TheEdge each day to be the best for our students, colleagues, district, parents and the community we serve. We expect to be at the top of our profession. We push to be innovative, to take risk, to demonstrate a growth mindset and to stay above the line. We strive to provide a world class experience for our students that prepares them to be ready for tomorrow. We believe we have created this environment within our district because of the amazing staff that we have in front of our students each day. Those staff members all are relentless in their pursuit to #BeELITE in their classroom for their students.

So today we pressed pause and took time to simply say "thank you". To show gratitude for all the little and big things these professionals do each day to create a first class experience for our students. To let them know that they are appreciated and that their hard work does not go unnoticed. These teachers demonstrate a passion for growth which has created a classroom culture that promotes risk taking and fosters student growth both academically and socially! They are preparing students to be Ready for Tomorrow! THANK YOU!

We hope you enjoy reading about the first in a series of HCSD Walks of Gratitude!

Hilliard Station Sixth Grade Building

Jill Logan

Jill’s willingness to work on a variety of projects for both students and staff help make Station run like a well-oiled machine. In addition to teaching digital citizenship, Jill works with small groups of students to help support their work in their academic classes. She also organizes our announcements every day, coordinating groups of students to record and publish video productions. In addition to taking on our extracurricular program, Jill also spends countless hours ensuring that our annual Track and Field Day goes off without a hitch and is always willing to lend a hand with various events and projects. Her commitment and dedication to the staff and students at Station make this a great place to learn and work.

Tisha Alexander (Not Pictured)

In addition to revitalizing the Station Media Center and managing media and resources for the building, Tish is an essential, go-to person for anyone in our building. Administrators, teachers, tutors, and students seek out her expertise on a regular basis and she is always willing to step up and lend a helping hand to whomever needs it. Not only does she lead our iPad distribution and collection processes, she trains students for work at the Genius Bar, continues to provide necessary device management and support, and goes into classrooms to ensure that technology enhances the learning opportunities for teachers and students throughout the building. Her willingness to go above and beyond for students and staff makes Station a great place to learn and work!

Jeff Loundenslager
Our day custodian, Jeff Loudenslager, is an invaluable member of the Station family. From the first thing in the morning until the end of the day, he supports students and staff by ensuring that our building is a clean and safe place to be. He is always willing to lend a helping hand to a student headed to Memorial for orchestra or fix a leak in a bathroom. Jeff is a consistent start to our morning and his response to unexpected events in the building helps ensure that everyone makes it to the final bell. It is because of his help and support that Station continues to be a well-oiled machine!
Kaity Mangold
Although Kaity has only been teaching for a few years, she demonstrates the confidence and poise of a veteran teacher. Not only is she one of our rock-star Language Arts teachers and contributes on a regular basis to the success of her department, her caring nature and willingness to go above and beyond benefits the students on her team and all of her colleagues at Station. In addition to her work in the classroom, Kaity ensures that Station is a welcoming and fun community by assisting with Student Council, fully embracing the mantras of the Energy Bus, and being a source of positive contagious energy in our building!

Julie also is a consistent presence at our volleyball and basketball games where she encourages our student athletes to do their best.   She gives feedback freely and directly and can often be heard saying, “I knew you could do it!”, in a way that brings a smile to each student's face.
