Darby and THE Heritage - Walk of Gratitude Round 2

We hope you enjoy reading about the second edition in a series of HCSD Walks of Gratitude! Today we feature Darby HS and “THE” Heritage MS!
In today's society we are all so busy. We constantly are pushing ourselves and each other to do more and to be more. In our quest to #BeELITE, we often forget to stop and reflect and simply say "thank you". To pause and take the time to tell those that make our lives better that we appreciate them for all the little things and big things they do to enhance our journey.

Within the Hilliard City Schools, we focus on instilling a passion for growth in ourselves, our staff and our students. We push ourselves to #TheEdge each day to be the best for our students, colleagues, district, parents and the community we serve. We expect to be at the top of our profession. We push to be innovative, to take risk, to demonstrate a growth mindset and to stay above the line. We strive to provide a world class experience for our students that prepares them to be ready for tomorrow. We believe we have created this environment within our district because of the amazing staff that we have in front of our students each day. Those staff members all are relentless in their pursuit to #BeELITE in their classroom for their students.

So today we pressed pause and took time to simply say "thank you". To show gratitude for all the little and big things these professionals do each day to create a first class experience for our students. To let them know that they are appreciated and that their hard work does not go unnoticed. These teachers demonstrate a passion for growth which has created a classroom culture that promotes risk taking and fosters student growth both academically and socially! They are preparing students to be Ready for Tomorrow! THANK YOU!

Hilliard Darby High School

Nick Crawford - Nick Crawford is in his 4th year as a Social Studies teacher.  Nick has developed into a wonderful teacher who gets the most out of his students by believing in all of them.  Nick takes the time to work with students one-on-one before, during and after school on many occasions.  When you walk into his classroom, you immediately see that his students are engaged and excited about being in his class.

Katherine Hueter - Ms. Hueter is an excellent example of a professional whose dedication to education extends outside of the instruction offered in her classroom.  With a concern for the development of the whole child, Ms. Hueter has committed her time to leading Darby High Schools Panther Ambassadors.  During the school day Ms. Hueter is also a member of the Intervention Assistance Team where she works with individual students who need additional support in the classroom while developing a plan for success with that student’s teachers and family members.  Ms. Hueter’s commitment to her students is evident and she is truly a valuable member of the Hilliard Darby family.

Katie Hurley - Katie Hurley is truly the embodiment of personalization through Blended Learning.   She strives to create lessons that will be meaningful, attainable, yet still full of rigor for each student.  She is an advocate for all students and we are truly blessed to have her at Hilliard Darby.

Chris Maul - Chris Maul has a passion for growth!  He is a life-long learner who is always looking for best practices!  His classes are designed to provide students with meaningful and authentic experiences.  Students learn in an environment where they are encouraged to take risks and grow through productive discomfort!  He genuinely cares about his students and he helps get them Ready for Tomorrow.

Chelsea Noble - Chelsea Noble is a great leader both in the classroom and out in the community. Chelsea works tirelessly to make sure her students succeed in the classroom. She uses blended learning, alternative assessments, and student choice to achieve differentiation for all of her students. We are proud to have Chelsea as a member of our Wellness Department and a member of Panther Nation! Congrats Chelsea, keep up the great work!

"THE" Heritage Middle School

Laura Tornes - Laura is an amazing teacher.  She is someone who has embraced every challenge presented to her, and continues to try new things in her classroom constantly.  She has fully embraced the blended classroom, and provides a great experience for her students every day.

Ashli Jasper - Ashli is an 8th grade language arts teacher that hasn’t let huge class numbers prevent her from providing best practice and opportunities for her students.  She has fully embraced the workshop model in her classroom and has been a shining example of what language arts should look like.

Richard Kelch - Richard is an extremely good teacher, and does a great job of creating an awesome experience for our pre-engineering students.  He is also someone who goes above and beyond being involved in after school programs including the engineering program among others.  He always steps up and helps when we need someone to represent the school such as in levy committees or anything else that requires above and beyond support or commitment.

Elaine Ruiz - Elaine is a rock star in our science department.  She gets her students up and involved with great labs and projects, but also allows them to work towards personalizing their experience with great opportunities of voice and choice.  She is also involved in the science iBook writing and updating and fully embraces and enjoys the challenges of that task.  She always has a positive and straightforward personality that goes a long way in continuing the great culture that is present at THE Heritage.

Thank you to our building administration for fostering cultures in their buildings that allow staff to #BeELITE.
